RFQQuote request assistant · Mould makers
The RFQ, read. The reply, drafted.Your team sends it.
For Portuguese mould makers in plastic injection and aluminium die-casting. It reads the incoming request and its attachments, measures the 3D file, writes a technical summary sheet in Portuguese, lists only what's missing to quote, and drafts the reply in the client's language. Your team reviews it and sends it.

01What it does
One RFQ in.Four things out.
It works on the email and everything attached to it: PDF specs, the client's own forms, and STEP files.
- 01
Reads the request
The email, the PDF drawings and specs, the client's RFQ form and the STEP file, together, so nothing in an attachment gets missed.
- 02
Writes a summary sheet in Portuguese
Part, material, quantities, dates, finish and the measured geometry on one page, in the language your workshop and estimators use.
- 03
Lists only what blocks the quote
Not a checklist of everything that could be asked. Only the gaps and contradictions that stop you from quoting.
- 04
Drafts the reply in the client's language
In the language the client wrote in, asking for exactly those missing points. It waits in drafts until someone checks it.
A person always reviews and sends. Nothing goes out on its own.
02Worked example
One RFQ,from email to draft.
Three fictional requests from fictional clients, to show what each step produces. Pick one; the companies, people and parts are invented.

01 · Arrives
The RFQ lands in the shared inbox.
An email with a drawing, the client's own spec or form, and a STEP file. The details that matter are spread across all three.
The client writes in German.
Incoming emailDE Guten Tag,

02 · Measure
The STEP file, measured.
Exact dimensions, volume, weight, projected area and an indicative locking force, read from the geometry itself instead of estimated from the drawing.
The locking force is indicative: projected area × an assumed cavity pressure, stated on the sheet so your team can change it.

- 182.0 × 124.0 × 38.5 mm

03 · Summarise
One sheet, in Portuguese.
Everything needed to start quoting, in one place. Where two documents disagree, the sheet flags it instead of picking one.
Written in Portuguese for your team, whatever language the client used.

04 · Check
Only what blocks the quote.
Only what the client has to answer. Steel grade and gate position aren't on the list: those are your team's decisions, not the client's.
Blocking the quote03 - 01
Which material?
The drawing says PP-T20; the client's tooling spec says PP.
Why it blocks: It changes shrinkage, steel choice and part weight.
- 02
How many cavities?
Not stated anywhere. 120,000 parts a year allows more than one answer.
Why it blocks: It sets the mould size and the press it needs.
- 03
Which texture on the visible face?
The drawing asks for a textured face but gives no reference.
Why it blocks: It changes the texturing work and the lead time.
- 01
05 · Draft
A reply in German, waiting for review.
It asks for the missing points and nothing else. It stays in drafts until someone on your team reads it, edits it and sends it.
Draft replyDraft · not sent Guten Tag Frau Weber,

03The cost
What the repeat workcosts you a year.
Four numbers about your inbox. The result is your estimate, not ours: every assumption is listed beside it.
≈ 530hours a year
- Paid time
- ≈ €18,500
- Working days
- ≈ 66
If half came back: 260 hours and €9,300 a year.
Assumptions
- 46 working weeks a year, 8-hour days.
- A request in another language takes 1.5 times as long.
- Half coming back is a planning figure, not a promise. The audit measures yours.
04Boundaries
What it does, and what stays with you.
It does
- Read emails, PDFs, client forms and STEP files
- Measure dimensions, volume, weight and projected area
- Estimate an indicative locking force
- Write the summary sheet in Portuguese
- Draft the reply in the client's language
Your team keeps
- Pricing: it never proposes a price
- Judging the design: it measures the part, it doesn't assess it
- Choosing steel, cavities and process
- Sending: every reply is reviewed and sent by a person
05Who it's for
Built forPortuguese mould makers.
Tool shops that quote moulds for plastic injection and aluminium die-casting, often for clients elsewhere in Europe, with RFQs in several languages and engineers who'd rather be engineering.
Plastic injection
Moulds for thermoplastic parts. The locking force uses an injection cavity pressure, set per material.
Aluminium die-casting
Dies for aluminium parts. The locking force uses a die-casting pressure that your team sets.
06Questions
What tool shopsask first.
01Does it work with our email?
It connects to the shared inbox where RFQs already arrive, and leaves its drafts in that same mailbox. Your team keeps working in the email program it uses today.
02What if there's no STEP file?
It works from the email and the PDFs alone. The geometry rows stay empty and are flagged, so nobody mistakes a gap for a measurement.
03Will it ever propose a price?
No. Pricing, steel, cavities and process stay with your team. It measures and summarises; your estimators decide.
04Which languages does it handle?
It reads the request in the language the client wrote in and drafts the reply in that language. The summary sheet is always in Portuguese, for your workshop and estimators.
05Do our clients' drawings leave the company?
They're processed to produce the sheet, by providers named in writing before installation and under a data processing agreement, with training on your data switched off. We check that setup against your clients' NDAs first.
